Cinnamon Twists

Makes 12 cinnamon twists



  • 1 cup of sourdough starter discard
  • 3 cups of flour
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • ½ tbsp yeast
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup hot tap water


  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon


  1. Make dough by mixing all ingredients together, then knead until dough is smooth. Adding flour as needed. Set dough aside while you make the filling.
  2. Mix borwn sugar and cinnamon together.
  3. Divide dough into three even sections. Take one section, and roll into a rectangle about the size of a piece of paper. Spread half of the filling onto the rectangle. Then take the second section and roll out. Place on top of filling. Layer with rest of filling. Then roll out and and place dough on top of filling.
  4. Using a pizza cutter, slice rectangle in half, then each half into thirds, and then each third into halves, making twelve strips.
  5. Grease two baking sheets and preheat the oven to 400°F.
  6. Take a strip, fold it in half, and then twist the strip togther. Place on baking sheet and continue with rest of strips.
  7. Bake for 15minutes or until bread sounds hollow when tapped.
  8. Serve with powdered icing glaze or as is.

Will keep in airtight container for 3 days.
