Cinnamon Rolls

Makes 12 cinnamon rolls

  • 2 ¾ cups flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 3 Tablespoons salted butter
  • 2 ¼ tsp yeast
  • 1 large egg

  • 3 Tablespoons salted butter (softened or melted)
  • ⅓ cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon

  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 Tablespoons salted butter, softened
  • ⅔ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  1. Whisk the dry ingredients together. Heat the milk and butter together until it is warm. Pour into dry ingredients.
  2. Mix in egg and stir until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead dough for 3-5 minutes, adding in flour until the dough is smooth. Let dough rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Roll the dough out into a 14x8 inch rectangle. Mix the cinnamon and brown sugar together. Spread the butter on top and sprinkle over cinnamon and brown sugar mixture. Press it in lightly before rolling it into a log (length wise)
  5. Cut the log into 12 pieces using floss and arrange in a greased 13x9 pan. Let rise for 60-90 minutes or until rolls are touching.
  6. Bake the rolls at 375 °F for 24-27 minutes or until browned.
  7. Make the icing by creaming butter and cream cheese together. Beat in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth frosting forms.
  8. Spread icing over warm cinnamon rolls and serve immediately for best results.
